How to Motivate Yourself to Get Out of Bed in the Morning and Go to Work

Just read an amazing blog post by about what the ancient philosophers have to say regarding motivating yourself to get out of bed in the morning and go to work.

The summary of the blog post is that there was a man and his name was Marcus Aurelius. He was a Roman Emperor. He has written a lot of books on human nature and is regarded as one of the best philosophers of all times.

So, here’s what Marcus has to say about waking up early in the morning.

At dawn, when you have trouble getting out of bed, tell yourself: “I have to go to work — as a human being. What do I have to complain of, if I’m going to do what I was born for — the things I was brought into the world to do? Or is thiswhat I was created for? To huddle under the blankets and stay warm?”

Such wise words!!.

I think this problem of why do we work is still relevant as most of us struggling waking up early in the morning and to go to work. The main reason is that we have no such connection with our jobs, except that we do it for earning a living.

But we will have to think, as Marcus encourages, that after all, we are human beings. We have the responsibility to do something for the betterment of the whole humanity. We will have to find pleasure in our work. And will have to make it a motto of our lives, that we will do nothing short of best work.

According to Marcus, going to work and waking up early is a kind of love that you do to yourself.

You don’t love yourself enough. Or you’d love your nature too, and what it demands of you.

It’s very important that we must find out what type of work we love to do and to have some passion for our working lives.

If you are looking for motivation to wake up early, you will have to have some big task, some noble cause. Think about why your work is important to you. If you are struggling at your job, then try to find out some attraction that you can feel only on the job.

Do this till you really find out some awesome work. Keep going. Keep fighting. And keep showing up. Work is work. Be honest with it. And the reward will be infinite. Loving what you do make you an expert in your field.

Here’s what you can do for waking up early.

  1. Read this post and train yourself wake up early.
  2. Make a schedule for the next day at 10:00 pm every night
  3. After making schedule, go straight to bed
  4. Next morning, wake up early. Do some exercise.
  5. Go to work, and try to finish all assigned tasks within deadline.
  6. Don’t forget to take breaks. Good lunch and chit-chat with friends.

Hope by applying these techniques you will never wake up late. Not only waking up early will make you work productively, but there is a lot of happy living there in living a disciplined life.
